Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy

What Is Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy

Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy is an innovative therapeutic approach designed to help individuals address mental health challenges in a transformative way. It combines counselling with the supervised use of a psychedelic substance, such as ketamine, to facilitate deeper emotional exploration and healing.

This modality is particularly suited for individuals who have not found success with traditional therapy methods, offering a new path for growth and introspection. By creating an opportunity for shifts in perspective and emotional release, Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy can enhance the therapeutic process and help clients uncover unique insights to support their healing journey.

This approach is showing promise for conditions such as Depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction. Patients typically undergo several preparation sessions with a therapist before the experience, followed by integration sessions to process and make sense of the insights gained during the therapy.

How Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy Works

The process begins with a comprehensive clinical assessment, lasting 2-3 hours, to determine a client’s suitability for the treatment. Once approved, the client participates in a supervised ketamine "journey," guided by a medical doctor in a safe and controlled environment. The journey itself lasts approximately 60-90 minutes, within a 3-hour session.

Subsequent counselling sessions focus on integrating the insights and experiences from the journey into the client’s ongoing therapeutic work. Many clients report that this process accelerates their progress, offering profound clarity and helping them achieve meaningful personal goals.
